Can I control The Orb with my smartphone?
You can control and configure your setting with the Better Light App. It is important you have an Android smartphone with Bluetooth LE or iPhone 5 or newer. You can download the Better Light App from App Store or Google Play 

How do I add features and functions as sunrise and nightfall? 
We will over time add new features and functions to the Better Light app. When you update your app, these will automatically be implemented. So, keep a look out for updates for your app.

THE ORB

How do I set up The Orb?
When you have read the user guide and installed your Orb/Orbs, you can control the predefined moods with the Eclipse and set your own moods with the Better Light app. Download the app from Google Play or App Store.

How durable is The Orb?
The Orb is built to last. We want to provide you with the highest quality while also helping the environment.

What do I do if The Orb needs to be repaired?

Can I install The Orb to a dimmer switch? 
No. If you connect The Orb to an energy source that already has a dimmer, it will, at worst, damage The Orb. You can control the light intensity with the Better-Light app and/or with the included Eclipse.

Is it possible to use The Orb in other places than the ceiling? 
The Orb is a pendant and thus is designed to hang from the ceiling.

Why can I only manage my Orbs in one single group?
In the upcoming version of the Better-Light app, you will be able to group your Orbs in several groups and control them individually. 

Why do I have to reset the settings every time I turn my Orb on and off? 
The Orb will reset if you turn off the power supply. We recommend you only turn The Orb on/off with the Eclipse or Better Light app.

What is Orb’s beam angle?
A lamp’s beam angle means how wide the light reaches. Since The Orb can light in three directions, it gives you a 360-degree beam angle. Using the light up- or downward gives you a beam angle of approximately 110 degrees.

 

THE CABLE

How long is the cable?
The cable is 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) and can be adjusted to suit your ceiling height.

Note that the provided cable is only intended to connect The Orb to the base/transformer. You must acquire a standard cable to connect the base/transformer to a power source.

Is the cable available in different colors?

Is it possible to hide the extra cable in the base?
It is not possible to hide extra cable in the base. Instead, you have to cut the cable at the preferred length. If you are planning to move The Orb or need a longer cable. You can buy it at here

Can I connect The Orb directly to a standard outlet?
No. It is important that you read the user guide thoroughly before setting The Orb up. The Orb must be installed with the supplied cable and base/transformer to ensure proper power supply.

If you connect The Orb directly to power, this will destroy the components inside the Orb, causing a defective Orb. An incorrect installation like this is not covered by the warranty.

Do I need to use the base/transformer The Orb comes with?
Yes. It is important that you read the user guide thoroughly before setting it up. The Orb must be installed with the supplied cable and base/transformer to ensure proper power supply.

I have set up my Orb, but it does not light up, and it does not react to the Better Light app or Eclipse.
This may indicate that your Orb is not properly connected to power, which means that The Orb is not visible to the Eclipse or the Better Light App.

Start by making sure you have connected The Orb correctly. Be sure to check if you have connected the cable from The Orb to the base/transformer correctly. The black cable must be connected to 0v, the red must be connected to 24v. The standard cable (which you must acquire yourself) which you use to connect the base/transformer to a power source usually has a blue and a brown cable. The blue cabl must be connected to N, the brown cabl must be connected to L.

The ECLIPSE

How do I control The Orb with the Eclipse?
The Eclipse is a handy device perfect for everyday control of The Orb. A simple click on the front of the Eclipse turns The Orb on or off. A twist of the Eclipse cycles through the pre-defined or customized moods you have defined with the Better Light. The Eclipse can be mounted on the wall or used as a portable device control.

If you turn The Orb off and then on, is the light the same as it was prior to turning it off?
Yes! When you use the Eclipse to turn The Orb back on, The Orb will give you the same light as you had before turning it off. If you turn it on/off at your light switch, The Orb will not start at the same mood as before. Please read the section above.

My Eclipse is reacting slower than usual, how come?
If you’re using your Eclipse a lot in a short time, the Eclipse may be reacting a bit slower than usual. Give the Eclipse a couple of minutes break, and it will work at the same speed as before!

My Eclipse lights up red
If your Eclipse lights up red either constantly or once in a while: Try to take the battery out and replace it but be sure not to push the middle of the Eclipse. This can be difficult but be patient and try a couple a couple of times. Watch this video for further help. My Eclipse needs a new battery
If you need to change the Eclipse’s battery, move the battery cover and replace the battery with a CR 2032. If you need help changing the battery, we've made this video for you

 

 

MOODS AND LIGHTNING

Why use Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth® Low Energy)?
Using Bluetooth LE allows us to make a standalone product that will work straight out of the box. Regardless of whether you have Wi-Fi or not, regardless if your Wi-Fi is down or not, The Orb will work right out of the box.

In addition, it secures your data and ensures you will always have light, even if the Wi-Fi is not working.

How do I customize the pre-defined settings and moods?
Any customization of settings is easily done with the Better Light smartphone app.
